Quaise Energy announced a pivotal achievement in geothermal energy technology by successfully testing its millimeter-wave drilling system on a full-scale oil rig near Houston, Texas. This innovative approach utilizes high-frequency electromagnetic waves to vaporize rock, enabling access to the Earth’s supercritical zones located 2 to 12 miles beneath the surface. These zones contain supercritical water, which can carry five to ten times more energy than conventional geothermal steam, offering a highly efficient medium for power generation.
