Polish Parliament Approves Liberalisation of Onshore Wind Farm Rules
Poland’s parliament has passed legislation easing onshore wind farm regulations—shortening required distances to residences and offering incentives to nearby municipalities—to boost renewable output and reduce electricity costs.

In a landmark vote on June 26, Poland’s lower house approved reforms that ease restrictions on onshore wind development, including reducing the minimum distance from homes, while tightening protection near sensitive ecological areas. The law also extends a household electricity price freeze through year-end and provides financial incentives to communities hosting turbines. With renewables already supplying nearly 30% of the country’s electricity and 11 GW of wind capacity installed, the reforms mark a decisive shift from prior restrictions. However, the bill awaits Senate review and presidential approval amid pushback from outgoing President Duda and President‑elect Nawrocki, who argue the price freeze may unduly pressure the executive.
