NextEra Energy Faces $350 Million Lawsuit Over Hydropower Project
NextEra Energy is sued by Avangrid for allegedly obstructing a hydropower project intended to supply low-cost electricity to New England.
Avangrid and its affiliates have filed a federal lawsuit against NextEra Energy, seeking over $350 million in damages. The lawsuit alleges that NextEra engaged in a “scorched-earth scheme” to block Avangrid’s hydropower project, which aimed to deliver affordable electricity to New England. Avangrid claims that NextEra’s actions have impeded competition, increased consumer costs, and delayed the region’s transition to clean energy.
