Maryland Democrats unveil energy bills to boost local production amid criticism from GOP
Top Democrats in the Maryland General Assembly unveiled a package of legislation aimed at reducing the price of energy for people across the state while increasing home-grown production, but the plans are already facing criticism from more people than lawmakers across the aisle.

Senate President Bill Ferguson, House Speaker Adrienne Jones, committee leaders from both chambers and other lawmakers rolled out the three-bill plan Monday. The goal is to generate more Maryland-made energy as supply continues to dwindle.
“We recognize that renewable energy is the future but we also recognize that no single form of energy can meet our growing demand,” Speaker Jones said. Read more.
