UK Labour leader Keir Starmer and Brazilian President Lula da Silva have initiated a global alliance to triple renewable energy capacity by 2030.

At the G20 summit in Brazil, Keir Starmer and Lula da Silva announced a “clean power alliance” aimed at significantly increasing global renewable energy capacity within the next six years. This initiative seeks to attract substantial investments and promote economic growth, job creation, and climate stability. The alliance will also address the financing challenges faced by developing countries, leveraging the decarbonization experiences of the UK and Brazil to assist other nations. Countries such as Canada, France, and Germany have expressed support, while the United States, under President-elect Trump, remains non-committal.
